A big step towards the European future: International conference at the Chernivtsi National University

On 5 April, Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University hosted a large-scale event - the international conference WAYS OF INTRODUCING EUROPEAN VALUES IN UKRAINIAN EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND SPORTS. This scientific forum, held within the framework of the European Union's Erasmus+ Jean Monnet / EVUESS module, was dedicated to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

Andriy Samila, Vice-Rector for Research at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences, welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of European values in the modern world.

The plenary session featured a fascinating demonstration performance by students of the Faculty of Physical Culture and Human Health, under the guidance of Olena Moroz, Associate Professor and head of the faculty's cheerleading team.

Among the plenary speakers were:

Anna Schoch, Secretary of Eurodoc, a researcher from the University of Zurich (Switzerland), shared her experience of introducing European innovations into the academic research environment. Anastasiia Simakhova, First Deputy Head of the Council of Young Scientists at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Department of Business Analytics and Digital Economy at the National Aviation University, emphasized the importance of digitalization in education and science. Andrii Ohnystyi, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, Associate Professor at Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University, Head of the Regional Branch of the Olympic Academy of Ukraine in Ternopil Region, focused on the development of sports in the regions. Oleksandr Tomenko, Head of the Department of Theory and Methods of Physical Culture at Sumy State Pedagogical University, named after A.S. Makarenko, Doctor of Science in Physical Education and Sports, Professor, shared his experience of integrating Olympic values into the educational process. The project participants, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Yaroslav Zoriy, who presented a report to all those present, and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Yuriy Moseychuk, who shared his vision of the development of physical culture and education in Ukraine, made a significant contribution to the event. Ihor Nakonechnyi, Associate Professor, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, highlighted psychological aspects in sports, and young scientists Yulia Yermechuk and Dmytro Shepa presented their research reflecting the latest trends in physical culture and sports.

The project coordinator, Iaroslav Galan, Associate Professor, PhD in Physical Education and Sports, stressed the importance of international scientific cooperation for the development of Ukrainian education, science and sports.

All participants of the conference were awarded commemorative certificates confirming their active participation in a significant event aimed at implementing European values in the fields of education, science and sports in Ukraine.

This conference was not just a meeting of like-minded people, but a platform for sharing experiences, ideas and strategies on the way to integrating European values into our lives. It gave impetus to new initiatives and projects that will undoubtedly bear fruit in the future.

The conference was actively attended by academics from Romania and Ukrainian universities, as well as teachers, heads of sports federations, physical education teachers, coaches, industry professionals, and students. Such a diversity of participants underlines the comprehensive interest and commitment to the idea of implementing European values in education, science, and sports in Ukraine.

Thanks to the joint efforts, the conference was a clear indication that joining the efforts of different sectors of society is key to achieving significant changes. It laid a solid foundation for future initiatives and projects aimed at deepening European integration in the Ukrainian education, science and sports sectors.
